PAINTINGS
In my travels I often take photographs that capture a personal experience or observation. I then crop the photos to create a more graphic image, unusual vantage point or composition. I edit the unnecessary details concentrating on color, shapes, gesture and point of view. There may be literary or historical references to the imagery, but my goal is to convey the essence of that place or subject as it appears in my memory.
The Still Life paintings incorporate objects that lend an element of the unexpected and may include sand, paper or textiles.
